Dairy or Non Dairy

For decades, we have been told that cow’s milk is the best source of calcium. We’ve been told it builds strong bones and it’s a health food. Back in the day when Margaret Thatcher was in power she believed so whole heartedly that it was a health food that she forced all school children to drink it. I, sadly, was in primary school at the tail end of that and was forced to drink that warm disgusting white stuff, urgh. So, why have we been told this for so many years? and is it really true?

I am now vegan, so obviously I don't drink it anymore and the facts I have come across simply have to be shared. It's time we lifted those rose coloured glasses and faced the true hard facts! So, here they are!

The Facts

‘In the population study “Milk intake and Risk of Mortality and Fractures in Women and Men,” researchers following more than 100,000 men and women in Sweden for about 20 years found significantly higher rates of bone and hip fractures, heart disease, cancer, and premature death in general for women who drank more milk.’ https://nutritionfacts.org/topics/dairy/

Hold the phone! This then proves that milk doesn’t give you stronger bones and most probably isn’t a health food, so then why on earth have we been led to believe this?

Well, like it or not the dairy industry is one of the biggest industries in the world and therefore they have a tonne of money and hold over the people in our political environment. If they want more cow’s milk to get sold all they have to do is ask, and someone will create a very clever campaign to make us believe we should buy it.

You know how we’ve been told that doctors are giving out antibiotics too readily and that’s why we’re becoming resistant to them? Well, guess what? That’s not entirely true either! Just look at that fact above. If so many animals are being given antibiotics, then where do you think those antibiotics end up? IN YOU! If you drink their milk and eat their flesh, you’re ingesting those antibiotics too.

I bet you’re thinking they must only give antibiotics to animals when they need it though?

‘Antibiotics are fed to farmed animals to offset the disease risks posed by overcrowding, stressful conditions, early weaning and maximising production. These are given regardless of whether the animal is infected or not. Doesn't it amaze you that all these so called facts that come out by the government are constantly being debunked by ACTUAL research

I have already showed above that consuming dairy products can increase your risk of cancer but now I bet you’re confused because you’ve been told that soy products can increase the risk of breast cancer. It’s very confusing I know. So, if you’re actually gaining most of your intake of soy from meat and dairy then isn’t it perhaps the meat and dairy causing the cancer, not the soy? oh, but wait, again you’ve been told that soy increases oestrogen, which in turn increases your risk of breast cancer… ‘a steady stream of research has been conducted and the results show that, far from causing cancer, soya actually protects against it.’ https://veganuary.com/myths/doesnt-soya-give-you-cancer/

Doesn’t it amaze you that all these so called facts that come out by the government are constantly being debunked by ACTUAL research. The thing to understand is a lot of what you’ve heard has come out through really pretty poor reporting. That misinformed soy statement for instance, came out before the research was even done. So, you really can’t believe everything you hear. This is why I stopped listening and started searching for my own answers. They scared me and i’d be very surprised if they don’t hit a nerve with you too and the thing is I know a lot of people won’t even read this blog because they don’t want to know the truth yet. I get that completely, that was me 2 years ago as well! All I can say is I hope you come around eventually for the sake of your own health.
